The first Era album was released in 1997 and was a worldwide success, helped by the first single "Ameno". More than 6 million copies were sold.

In 2000 the album Era 2 was released, in 2003 The Mass

In 2008, the project significantly deviated from its previous themes and presented a more electronic, fourth album "Reborn", with influences of Arabic melodies.
In the next two years, Era released Classics and Classics 2 albums, which were modern interpretations of classical works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Giuseppe Verdi, Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, among others.
In 2013 Era released an album in collaboration with the French singer and actress Arielle Dombasle called Arielle Dombasle by Era, and in 2017 an album called The 7th Sword.

 

Era mixes Gregorian chants and sometimes world music with modern electronic and pop-rock arrangements.  It is reminiscent of the music of new-age projects: Enigma , Gregorian and Deep Forest.
The lyrics are in Latin and English, and some of them are based on the beliefs of the 13th century French heretics, the Cathars.

Most Era songs are sung in an imaginary language inspired by Latin, but without any meaning, but some are sung in real Latin. They also have some songs in English, like "Mother" and "Looking For Something", and in Arabic, like "7 Seconds".
